  • TradeIt Project http://www.tradeitnetwork.eu February 2014 – 2016 – EU Funded Support for the Traditional Food Sector. Doireann’s involvement in the TradeIt Project has been hugely beneficial to the business development of The GFK Co. and she has attended EU Funded Workshops as part of the upskilling of Artisan Producers in the Meat, Dairy & Bakery Sector. The workshops take place over 9 European Hubs and Doireann has participated as a guest speaker in Potsdam, Berlin, Germany in October 2014 where she presented her business model to the Bakery & Brokerage Conference.

After a lifetime of symptoms, Doireann was finally diagnosed in 2004 with Coeliac Disease. Thereafter she saw a gap in the market with the Café/Deli offering and thus began her journey to develop The GFK Co. Her ambition is to create a safe brand of outlets that cater for those suffering with food intolerances and allergies while allowing them to enjoy a meal amongst loved ones without the unfortunate stigma and label that currently excludes a person with dietary exclusions . She understands the difficulties in eating out in a safe and enjoyable environment and created The GFKC based on her experience. Overall, The GFK Co. aims to replace those difficulties by providing a safe food environment while enjoying a quality food experience!

Doireann is a Co-Author of a Published Case Study on her business model which has been Co- Written by Trinity College Business School Professors Paul Coughlan & David Coghlan, Claire Riggs Liverpool University UK & Denise O’ Leary, UCD College Dublin. Doireann’s Case Study Chapter which she co wrote was Published by Emerald Books in 2016, “Organizing Supply Chain Processes for Sustainable Innovation in the Agri – Food Industry”. This case study was presented in Milan, Italy in November 2015 during the Milan Expo where Doireann was invited to Milan to present her participation to the written case study. The Case study on Doireann’s development of The GFK Co. was presented alongside one other Irish Business Case Study which was on Bord Bia’s Origin Green Project. Other case studies presented at this event were Illy Coffee & Google amongst other larger companies.

Since the establishment of The GFK Co. Food & Wellness Brand Doireann & her team have gone onto win many Awards, Nominations and Accreditation’s and have received lots of Media attention. Check out our Awards & Media Pages!

In Doireann’s spare time she has a big interest in Well-being and Yoga and likes to spend her time surrounded by her family participating in long walks by the beach-side and out amongst nature in general. Doireann is well traveled and loves to visit new places and has had the privileged to travel to many countries worldwide!

John has over 20 years experience as a Chef in the Hotels & Restaurant sector as well as Corporate Contract Catering.

John has a keen interest in Food & Wellness and has worked in a variety of establishments which has contributed to his Experience in the Catering Sector. John is passionate about the development of The GFKC Food & Wellness Brand and in his spare time can be found Dj-ing and unwinding while spinning the decks and has played at many House Music Venues throughout Ireland.
